{"id":2171,"date":"2018-07-17T16:42:43","date_gmt":"2018-07-17T14:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/women.danube-stories.eu\/?p=2171"},"modified":"2019-05-28T15:49:55","modified_gmt":"2019-05-28T13:49:55","slug":"vip-attendance-at-danube-women-stories-exhibition-in-ulm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.de.woman.danube-stories.eu\/2018\/07\/17\/vip-attendance-at-danube-women-stories-exhibition-in-ulm\/","title":{"rendered":"VIP attendance at DANUBE WOMEN STORIES exhibition in Ulm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 13th of July 2018, State Secretary of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg <strong>Theresa Schopper<\/strong> and Deputy Mayor of Ulm <strong>Iris Mann<\/strong> opened the exhibition on DANUBE WOMEN STORIES, complemented by the stylish ambience of the Museum of Ulm and the pleasant setting of the International Danube Festival.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><strong>Bettina Hoffmann-Schmalekow <\/strong>and <strong>Markus Marquard<\/strong> from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zawiw.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ZAWIW<\/a> Ulm welcomed the illustrious guests. Selected photos, drawings and texts about women personalities in cities along the river Danube were presented on posters, editors <strong>Sabine Geller<\/strong>\u00a0from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danube-connects.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Danube connects<\/a> and <strong>Christiana Weidel<\/strong>\u00a0from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ngo.at\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The World of NGOs<\/a> in Vienna recounted how the project idea came into life and publisher <strong>Thomas Zehender<\/strong> explained why\u00a0he feels connected to the Danube region and its cultural diversity, transcending national boundaries and strengthening cultural diversity.\u00a0<strong>Andreas Weber<\/strong> from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bwstiftung.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg-Foundation<\/a> appreciated the engagement of the partner organisations from Ulm, Vienna, Budapest, NoviSad and Timisoara, well beyond the financial support provided by the Foundation.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">In memoriam Marina Kova\u010dev<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>The organisers also commemorated project team member\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5\"><strong>Marina Kova\u010dev<\/strong>, a human rights activist from\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.novinarska-skola.org.rs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Novi Sad School of Journalism<\/a>, who sadly died a few months ago at the age of 28. \u00a0Her successor <strong>Dragana Rado\u0161evi\u0107<\/strong>, who\u00a0continued Marina&#8217;s work for the project, was present at the exhibition. The partner organisation\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.apd.ro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pro Democracy Association<\/a> from Romania was represented by <strong>Iuliana Iliescu<\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/setamuhely.hu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Budapest Walkshop<\/a> in Hungary was presented by its founder <strong>Anna Lennard<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Great setting<br \/>\n<\/strong>The International Danube Festival created a grand setting for the exhibition and the following networking of presenters and guests.\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">\u201cThe exhibition gave my motivation to promote gender equality a great boost\u201d, a visitor of the exhibition said. \u201cNow I&#8217;ll feel truly supported when asking for fairer recognition of women\u2019s achievements in our city.\u201d One of the many outcomes of the project \u201cDanube Women City Guide\u201d will be an online exchange of engaged citizens regarding experiences and strategies in requesting more female street names in their cities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Information<\/strong><br \/>\nThe city guide is published by \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.danube-books.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">danube books<\/a>\u201d, showing 50 portraits of extraordinary \u201cDanube Women\u201c from the past and present.
